• Types of preventative care with the female body?

  • Cervical Cancer Screening:
It is recommended to have an annual Pap smear starting at the age of 18/when you become sexually active, whichever comes first. By keeping up with your annual visits and staying current with your exam is one of the most effective ways to monitor the presence of cervical cancer.

  • Breast Cancer Screening
You can help in the detection of possible breast mass. That is why physicians recommend patients to perform monthly self breast exams. This exam can be performed most conveniently in the shower, but where you do this exam is up to you. If you are unsure of the technique for a self breast exam, ask one of our physicians and they will provide you with the information. In addition to your monthly self exam, make sure to have your breasts examined by one of our physicians.

    • When do I need a mammogram?
This is a very good test for screening for possible breast mass. We commonly start when you reach the age of 40 for yearly screening. What if there is a family of breast cancer in my family? In this case, we actually recommend you to have this test done starting at the age of 35.
