This classifies patients over the age of 65. With the baby boomers reaching this age group, it is more important than ever for physicians to treat the medical issues as well as to promote preventative measures to maintain a patient’s quality of lifestyle for a long time.
-
There are many medical issues that affect the geriatric population, but here are some of the most common conditions.
- Decrease in mental capacity/memory
- Increased risk of falls
- Urinary Incontinence
- Prostate Enlargement
- Coronary artery disease/Stroke by poor control of blood pressure and high cholesterol
- Kidney, Eyes, and Neurologic symptoms due to uncontrolled diabetes
-
Our goal is to have better management of the chronic medical condition, which will prevent or delay further debilitation of the patient.
-
We have implemented the Electronic Medical System (EMR), which has enabled us to better manage your medications as well as easy access to any lab works performed. We are also working to have all the preventative exams required for the particular patient to be tracked in our EMR. For example, it will prompt us when a patient needs their next diabetic foot check. Our office is striving to keep open communication between our physicians and the patient by implementing an email system to provide you with lab results, and when your preventative exams are due.
